Torquay Harbour lies on the North shore of Tor Bay and whilst benefiting from an expanding marine leisure industry, Torquay remains a fully commercial and busy little Devonshire port. The Harbour is also close to the Town centre giving easy access to shops, restaurants and bars.
Princess Pier to the West and Haldon Pier to the South form the main breakwaters and shelter the enclosed harbour moorings and facilities.
Princess Pier is a popular promenade, with views across Torre Abbey Sands, Corbyn’s Head, Livermead Head, Paignton and beyond. friendly slipway, The Quayside contains shops, cafes and ample space for trailers and a boat park area which also helps to hosts maritime events.

Angling

Angling is prohibited under Harbour Bye laws within any part of the Harbour or from any vessel in the Harbour. However, there are plenty of locations to fish to seaward from the piers. Please consult the Harbour Office for guidance about these locations, where fishing is welcomed and encouraged. Any persons fishing within the enclosed Harbours may face prosecution. Swimming

Swimming and diving anywhere within Torquay Harbour is strictly prohibited (Harbour Bye laws).
Safety
Torquay is an operational ‘working’ Harbour and visitors to the Harbour Estate should read and abide by any safety signs and information to apprise themselves of any hazards or dangers. Please pay particular attention when approaching any pier edge or unfenced areas. There are ladders, grab chains and steps located around the Harbour for getting out of the water. Lifebuoys are strategically located around the perimeter to assist in the rescue of a person in the water.

Torquay Harbour - Out & About

The visitor pontoons are only 1 kilometre from Torquay Town centre where the many pubs, shops, restaurants, banks etc are to be found. On Beacon Quay there is a range of local business and clubs as listed below including the ‘Beacon Quay’ Pub/Restaurant with a fantastic balcony overlooking the Harbour.

Living Coasts attraction features a range of fascinating coastal creatures from loud and loveable penguins to playful fur seals, colourful puffins to sea ducks. There are reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary. A huge meshed aviary allows the birds to fly free over your head, while special tunnels give stunning crystal clear views of the birds and seals underwater. You are then able to relax in the water-side café with its stunning views across Tor Bay.

Royal Torbay Yacht Club

The well renowned yacht club was formed on 1st January 1885 by the merging of the Royal Torquay Yacht Club and the Torbay and South Devon Club. It was in 1886 when the club held its first regatta. The Torbay Royal Regatta is now a well known regatta seeing boats attending from all over the country. Visitors are most welcome.

Located in South Devon, Torquay Rowing Club was founded on 3rd May 1869 by Colonel H Luxmore 'when boats were made of wood and men made of steel'. The oldest sporting club in Torbay continues to promote the sport of rowing under the motto 'Verrimus Aequor Remis' meaning 'We Sweep The Sea With Our Oars'.

Torbay British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) based at Torquay Harbour, Torbay was the eighth BSAC club. Founded in 1954 it is still a thriving dive club. The club meets every Wednesday 20:30 hrs at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club.
